Aged in 70% new French oak (in this case, Seguin, Moreau and Nadlie), the sad thing about the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is that there are only 170 cases, with 70% of the Cabernet fruit coming from the Lewelling Ranch in St. Helena and the rest from the iconic Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford. Crushed blackcurrants, black cherries, licorice, Christmas baking spices and underbrush are all present in this rich, deep, forward, heady and juicy Cabernet Sauvignon that is typical of the 2014 vintage. It is seductive, round, medium to full-bodied and ideal for drinking over the next 12-15 years. - WA
