Acker concluded its 2024 auction season in Asia with an estimated HK$60 million (US$7.7 million) in sales on Saturday, December 7, in Hong Kong. Spanning two dynamic sessions—one featuring traditional live in-room bidding, and the other live online—the auction underscored the renewed strength of the fine wine market. Leading the way were nearly seventy exceptional lots direct from the cellars of Domaine Dugat-Py, including exclusive bottles and large formats released to the market for the very first time. Loïc Dugat-Py himself added to the occasion, hosting dinners and connecting with collectors eager to experience his exquisite and highly sought-after wines. The Domaine’s offerings achieved an extraordinary forty-four New World Records, accounting for 83% of all their eligible lots, with an impressive 88% of all Domaine-direct selections selling over high estimate.
Domaine Dugat-Py also claimed three of the Top Ten Lots in the sale, while D’Auvenay (Leroy) secured the top position with twelve bottles of 1995 Meursault Les Narvaux fetching HK$425,000 (US$54,627). Tied for the number two spot were twelve bottles of 1982 Chateau Lafleur in OWC and twelve bottles of 2005 Rousseau Chambertin Clos de Beze in OCB, each realizing HK$400,000 (US$51,414). Dugat-Py secured fourth place with an ultra-rare vertical of sixteen bottles of 2005 to 2020 Chambertin in OWC, achieving HK$375,000 (US$48,201). In fifth place, two lots tied at HK$350,000 (US$44,987): twelve bottles of 1990 Petrus and three bottles of 2014 D’Auvenay (Leroy) Batard-Montrachet in OWC. Dugat-Py returned to the list in seventh place, with twelve bottles of 2020 Chambertin in OWC selling for a remarkable HK$325,000 (US$41,774) and setting a New World Record. Spirits made an appearance fresh off the recent reduction in import taxes in Hong Kong as a rare cask of 2023 Hanyu Single Malt Japanese Whisky claimed eighth place at HK$300,000 (US$38,560). Rounding out the Top Ten were twelve bottles of 2019 Dugat-Py Chambertin and two bottles of 2003 DRC Romanee Conti, both in OWC, which garnered HK$275,000 (US$35,347) each, with Dugat-Py setting yet another New World Record.
Among the forty-four New World Records set by Domaine Dugat-Py, a wide range of wines from the portfolio delivered exceptional results. The Chambertin Grand Cru, regarded as the crown jewel of the Domaine, led the way with nine All-Time Highs including the aforementioned lots. Other standout New World Records included a Jeroboam of 2020 Chambertin Tres Vieilles Vignes, one of only three produced, which sold for HK$150,000 (US$19,280); six bottles of 2019 Montrachet fetching HK$95,000 (US$12,205); and two magnums of 2019 Corton Charlemagne, two of only twelve produced, achieving HK$35,000 (US$4,502). A Rehoboam of 2005 Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, one of ten in existence, realized HK$55,000 (US$7,073), while a case of 2015 Mazis-Chambertin sold for HK$70,000 (US$8,977). Each of these wines exceeded high estimates.
